    Information for guest teams

Planning to swim at the Monticello Killer Whales' pool at an upcoming meet? Here are some helpful things to know before you go:

    • Let's have fun! Please remember we are competing in a recreational summer swim league in which swimmers range in their ability, age and experience. Please help us demonstrate positive sportsmanship and a strong sense of community.
    • Parking: Our meets are hosted at the Monticello Estates pool. The parking lot will be closed to cars, so please allow yourself ample time to park and be prepared to walk from your car. With so many swimmers and families, parking can be an issue. Please do not block driveways, mailboxes, hydrants, or park within 4 feet of a stop sign. Parking is allowed on one side of the street only to ensure that residents and emergency vehicles can get through with ease. Please obey the 'No Parking' signs!
    • Event display & announcements: Swimmers and parents, please listen up and keep an eye on which events are currently being called to the bullpen, ensuring swimmers are ready for their races on time. Thanks for helping us keep things moving so we may end the meet on time!
    • Food/drink:
      • Outside food and coolers are welcome. We encourage you to bring water for your athlete(s) and family to stay cool and hydrated!
      • Our Concessions Coordinator works hard to provide an affordable selection of crowd-pleasing concessions. All proceeds support our team! Concessions typically include Chick-fil-A sandwiches, walking tacos, water, Gatorade, soda, snow cones, candy, etc.
    • Our kiddie pool is not open during meets, to ensure the safety of all swimmers. Thank you for keeping your Littles out!
    • Be comfortable and respectful. Guests are welcome to set up "camp" in the parking lot around the pool. Please be mindful of residents' property; do not place your chairs, tents, etc. in someone's yard, and be sure your trash finds a trash can.
    • Disqualification (DQ): As at any meet, there will be stroke judges watching the swimmers. If you and/or your swimmer want to understand why they were DQ'd, please ask one of your coaches or board members. No parent is allowed to approach a stroke judge; only the league representatives are. Your coach will gladly get the information you need and explain it to your child.
    • Both of our restrooms are UNISEX for the entire meet.

    What we suggest bringing:

    • A Sharpie for marking your swimmer’s arm
    • Your swimmer’s swim cap, goggles, flip flops or crocs, towel, and a hoodie or bathrobe if weather will get cool
    • Camp chairs, a picnic blanket, sunscreen, a handheld fan—whatever you need to be comfortable outside!
    • Cash for concessions.
    • Small coolers with food & drink. It is generally pretty hot outside at the start of a meet, so please make sure that your swimmer and anyone attending the meet is hydrating throughout the day. Pack your coolers with lots of water and healthy food to keep them energized!
