Hello to Monticello Killer Whale families!

It’s time to register for this summer’s swim team.

REGISTRATION OPENS FOR RETURNING MEMBERS AND RESIDENTS ON TUESDAY APRIL 5th.

IF WE HAVE ADDITIONAL OPENINGS, WE WILL OPEN REGISTRATION TO NON-RESIDENTS ON APRIL 8th.

Here’s what you need to know. Please read this entire email before your sign up. There is a lot of important information.

Schedule

We are swimming against other teams this year. We will have 3 home meets and 3 away meets. Here is the schedule so you can plan ahead:

Awards Ceremony

The end of year award ceremony will be Thursday July 28^th at the clubhouse.

2022 Registration Fees

RESIDENT FEE - $105 for your first swimmer and $85 for each additional swimmer

NON-RESIDENT FEE - $135 for your first swimmer and $115 for each additional swimmer

Registration will be done online at Home - Monticello Killer Whales Swim Team (swimtopia.com). You will see a 'Register Now" button. You will be prompted to use your password from last year or set up an account if you are new. (If your swimmer will not be returning please let us know so we can remove your name from communications.) There will be a late fee of $15 assessed after May 15th.

Authorization for a $250 volunteer fee will be obtained during registration and checkout. (DEPOSIT CHECKS WILL NO LONGER BE COLLECTED.) This fee will only be collected upon failure to complete the required volunteer duties during the season. (You will only be charged your registration fee upon completion of registration. Again, MKW will simply receive authorization to collect $250 for failure to complete volunteer commitments.)

IMPORTANT NOTICE – possible new meet management system

The St Charles Swim league is looking into a new meet management system, Swimmingly. If we adopt this system for this year, it will cost $18 per swimmer and that fee will need to be paid 2 weeks before our first meet. We will notify everyone as soon as we find out whether this will happen. If you are a member of a family with more than 3 swimmers, please reach out to us via email about this change.

Volunteer Duties

As part of the registration process, you will be required to sign up for your volunteer duties. You will not be able to move forward with your registration until you have signed up for your volunteer requirements (5 half meets, 1 home meet duty, and 1 alternate duty).

*** Our volunteer set up will, once again, be a point system. All families must work a total of 7 duties…5 half meets, 1 home meet duty, and 1 alternate duty. This equates to a total of 18 points (half meet=3 pts, home meet duty=2 pts, alternate duty=1 pt).***

Please consider signing up as a stroke judge. We are always in desperate need of stroke judges. The training is online this year and you would get to stand right next to the pool and would be able to see your kids swim! Never miss a race!

2022 Swim Practice Schedule

First Practice is scheduled for Tuesday May 31st - we will have afternoon only practices until school is out. Morning practices will start June 9th.

11 and over practice

5:30-6:30pm Monday - Thursday (starting May 31st)

7:45am - 9:00am Monday - Friday (starting June 6th)

10 and under practice

5:00pm -5:45pm Monday - Thursday (starting May 31st)

9am - 10am Monday - Friday (starting June 6th)

There are no Monday practices on meet days. Once the season starts, we will NOT have practice on Tuesday mornings after a meet.

New swimmer requirements

NEW SWIMMERS MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM THE FULL LENGTH OF THE POOL AND BACK WITHOUT ASSISTANCE AND WITHOUT TOUCHING THE LANE ROPES OR BOTTOM OF THE POOL PRIOR TO THE FIRST MEET TO STAY ON THE TEAM. If you child cannot do this before the first meet, they will not be able to continue with the team and we will refund your registration fees.

Swimsuits

You are not required to have a team swimsuit (we would love if your kid had a plain black suit for meets), but if you would like to purchase a suit, we use B&B as the St. Charles County swim vendor.

B & B is offering 3 special fittings on Sundays at our Chesterfield location for the St. Charles League only. We have special offerings for your teams:

• 1.10% off all store items
• 2.A buyers card that when full is worth $25 (10%) with no expiration
• 3.Of course 25% discount on your team suit
• 4.One free Gift Item per family while supply lasts

*We also have a suit consignment program for your team rep to have team suits for sale for a month or so at sign up or team practice.

*If you can’t come on your Sunday, we welcome you any other day we are open

M-F 10-6 & Sat 10-5. We also have a size run at our Des Peres location, but most suits are at Chesterfield. We are so happy everyone is swimming!!!
