MKW 2022 Practice Schedule
Hello Monticello Killer Whale families!
Welcome to the 2022 Swim Season. Our first practice is Tuesday May 31st.
Please see attached practice schedule. We had to move practice times forward an hour due to the lifeguard shortage with Pro Pool and the reduced times that the pools are open for Monticello residents. We are also using 2 pools for the first week of practice since we can only have evening practice due to Francis Howell students still attending school till June 2nd.
We will have a lot of kids in the pool so please be patient as the kinks of the first week are worked out. We will take care of your children and want to ensure their safety and comfort in the pool. For any new or beginner swimmers, please allow coaches to evaluate their safety and determine which lane is best for them. The first two weeks are important for gaining confidence in the water as well as learning the routine of swimming on a team.
For those kids who the coaches identify as needing a swim test before the first meet, we will let those parents know and the swim test will take place on Thursday June 9th at 7pm at the Estates pool.
There will be an attendance binder on the table under the pavilion at practices. Please sign your child(ren) in by initialing next to their name for the dates attended. (Swimmers will be rewarded for attending 3+ practices per week!)
Please do your best to bring your swimmers to practice on time and dressed in their swimsuits. Practices generally begin with some stretches on the pool deck before entering the water. Goggles are a good idea, caps are optional. The first few weeks of practice, the water can be cold and at times, morning practices can be somewhat cool as well...please be sure to bring a towel for your swimmer; a hoodie or bath robe might help to warm them up as well.
For meets, we recommend fitted family friendly swimsuits. One-piece suits for girls with a racerback or keyhole design to keep shoulder straps in place and no high leg/cut suits. Jammers for the boys. We would like black suits for the meets if possible.
If you bring a small child to practice, the kiddie pool will be open, but the child MUST be supervised by a parent at all times. The kiddie pools will NOT be open during meets.
We are excited that another swim season is upon us! We look forward to watching your children grow and improve but more importantly, have fun!!
Weather related updates will be sent via email, and posted to our Facebook group and website
Our team email account is [email protected]. Please try to use this for any questions.
There will be another email about meets coming out before our first meet which is an AWAY meet at Lake St Louis.
